FAQ - Treatment Services What is Myotherapy? Myotherapy is a specialised form of treatment which focuses on healing muscle & joint pains. Myotherapists are trained to use many different techniques including trigger point therapy, myofascial dry needling, deep tissue massage, corrective exercises, stretching, cupping & more. As every patient is different, treatment will be tailored to our patients needs. How does Myotherapy differ to Massage? Myotherapy is a specific treatment focusing on eliminating muscle & joint pains. Whilst we use some massage techniques, we focus on locating & eliminating trigger points in affected muscles. Due to our extensive training, our clinical reasoning varies to that of a massage therapist as does our treatment techniques. Can i claim my treatments on private health insurance? Most health funds rebate back on our services. HI-CAPS is available for on the spot rebates for those with appropriate cover (not all funds available). Rebate amount varies with each health fund depending on the type of cover you have. Please check with your health fund to find out what your rebate is and whether you are covered for our treatments. Please note, some providers rebate back on Myotherapy under Remedial Massage. Are treatments covered by WorkCover? How about Medicare, DVA or TAC? Myotherapy is not covered by Medicare, TAC or DVA though it is accepted by WorkCover & Commcare. Patients who have a current WorkCover claim will need a referral letter from a GP to see a Myotherapist which is valid for 10 sessions. If further treatments are required, another referral letter will be required. All our Myotherapists are accredited through WorkCover.Chiropractic is covered through TAC, DVA, WorkCover and Medicare. All treatments are bulk billed. Please note, you must obtain all paperwork from your GP and care plans must be accepted through Medicare before treatments can be bulk billed. Medicare will allow up to 5 treatments per year however you must meet the criteria to be eligible for this service. Please speak to your GP to see if you are eligible (Referred to as EPC plan). How much does treatment cost? Initial consultations with our Myotherapists usually last an hour. This includes a thorough orthopedic, neurological and postural assessment which takes approximately 10-15mins with the remaining time spent on finding and treating the cause of your aches and pains. The initial consult is $75 (click here for a special for an online special).
