pilates

The Pilates method we teach is a conditioning program that improves muscle control, flexibility, coordination, & strength. Pilates aims to create a strong and flexible torso with a stabilized core (abdominal, back and pelvic muscles), which leads to the body being balanced, aligned & conditioned for optimal performance. As Pilates is a low impact exercise routine, anyone may participate in classes including those with injuries and low fitness levels. Classes can be tailored to suit individual needs.

Some of the many benefits Pilates has to offer include:

  • Prevention of injuries & safe rehabilitation of joint & spinal pain.
  • Reduces muscular aches & pains including low back & joint pain.
  • Aids in relaxation and stress reduction.
  • Helps with weight loss & creates leaner, stronger muscles.

yoga

Yoga works to unite the body, mind and spirit. There are many aspects to yoga. The physical aspects—yoga asanas (postures) work on strengthening and balancing the entire body giving the practitioner a greater sense of calm and well being.

A balanced asana practice will stimulate and relax the entire central nervous system. Working in tune with the breath, asanas help to develop mental and physical strength and flexibility, improve posture, relieve stress, and increase focus, confidence and concentration.

Some people come to yoga to help address a particular ailment or injury. Some practice to help them relax and others simply to stay in shape. Anyone can start yoga as yoga is for everyone with a desire to improve their health and well being.
